I was talking with Mom yesterday and she shared a story with me of God's faithfulness, and special care for her. On Wednesday, when things were so uncertain and the outlook so grim Mom was feeling especially vulnerable and alone. Dad was going to be going in to see the ENT specialist, and if he required emergency surgery, she would have no one by her side to pray with her as she waited. She just prayed to the Lord for his presence.
The orderly who came to wheel Dad down to the clinic immediately started a conversation with Mom and Dad. Within a couple of sentences it became clear that he too was a Christian. For the 10 minutes that it took to walk down he quoted scripture to them and just encouraged them in such a way that they felt the arms of God were wrapped around them. And then of course, the result of the examination was that the infection wasn't fungal, so my mom ended up not having to sit alone through the surgery.
My mom said that this was just one example of the way God has provided people each day they have been there who have either been Christians, or who have taken special interest in Dad. They have expressed repeated thankfulness that Susie is on the nursing team, and it is such a blessing for them to see her, and also the way her family has shown their love to Dad and Mom in this time. Even today Mom had to be away from the hospital for a period of time to go home and replenish supplies. It is hard for Dad when she is gone, but he had a special nurse who was very kind and attentive to his needs, and was able to care for him while Mom was away. These are just a couple of specific ways that they have been encouraged through this trial, and I know that each and every comment they get here is a blessing to them, and a way that you too, are God's arms of love around them.

Dear All:
I felt compelled to point us to God's word. Thank you Jesus for continually loving us from the beginning of time to the present through eternity.

Hebrews 9

1Now the first covenant had regulations for worship and also an earthly sanctuary. 2A tabernacle was set up. In its first room were the lampstand, the table and the consecrated bread; this was called the Holy Place. 3Behind the second curtain was a room called the Most Holy Place, 4which had the golden altar of incense and the gold-covered ark of the covenant. This ark contained the gold jar of manna, Aaron's staff that had budded, and the stone tablets of the covenant. 5Above the ark were the cherubim of the Glory, overshadowing the atonement cover.

When everything had been arranged like this, the priests entered regularly into the outer room to carry on their ministry. 7But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.

11When Christ came as high priest of the good things that are already here,[b] he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man-made, that is to say, not a part of this creation. 12He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.

14How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death,[c] so that we may serve the living God!

15For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.

Can not stop praying for you Karen and Roger!! Love and prayers also to Mildred, Daisy and Ed, Kathryn and Rusty, Cara, Sandy and Joe, Andrew and Erin, Julie and Rob, Christine and Jean Michel, Sue, Wayne, Bill as you support your son and daughter-in-law, your dad, father-in-law and your brother.

It is wonderful to hear how God's faithfulness is being displayed everyday through this suffering. I am sad, but thankful.

As we sit here in Arizona so many miles away from the many dear friends that comprise our extended family, we are sad but so encouraged by all that is taking place in your midst. God's purposes are so good and His timing is perfect. We do suffer in a horrifically broken world, but not without meaning or hope. Christ holds us and sustains us, we belong to Him and He never lets us go. We are praying for you all that His sustaining grace will be seen working through each of you for His glory. We plan to leave this morning to visit Heather and Jacob in Roslyn for a few days before going out to Lancaster to visit Eric, Megan and Brianna. We would love to see and visit with you, but if that is not possible, we will stop at 225 N Easton and stand on that porch to declare our praise for our Savior's faithfulness and to seek His face on your behalf.
Love,

Good Morning Karen & Roger! When I read Daisy's blog about you both feeling the arms of God around you, I just had to send you a couple of my very favorite scripture verses which talk about "arms" - to me, it is such a great visual of being wrapped in God's loving arms and Him carrying us.Isaiah 40:11  "He tends His flock like a shepherd; He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart."Deut. 33:27  "The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms."Please know we are praying!Love you - Sue and Bob Moore
